Why it works
- “Carving down the face of a huge turquoise wave” with “the curling lip about to break overhead” describes the exact moment, so every seed put the surfer under the lip.
- “Shot from the water with a 300mm telephoto lens at 1/2000 s” does two jobs: the telephoto stacks the wave up behind him, and the fast shutter freezes the spray.
- “Sunlight shining through the thin translucent top of the wave” is what makes the water glow.
