Illustrious hair color prompts, tested

Seventeen hair color tags, including the tricky ones: gradient hair, streaked hair, two-tone hair and multicolored hair.

The test

Every tile below uses the same prompt with one tag swapped in, on the same two seeds (1001 and 1002), on SirenRender’s free anime tile: WAI-Illustrious-SDXL v17 with the DMD2 LoRA, 8 steps, CFG 1, 832×1216. {TAG} marks where each tag goes:

What we found

Single colors are exact on WAI v17: every plain color tag gave that color on both seeds, from black hair to aqua hair. The blends are where it gets unreliable. gradient hair, streaked hair and two-tone hair each landed clearly on one seed and only faintly on the other, and multicolored hair just added a few streaks. For a blend, try naming both colors as well, for example gradient hair, brown hair, orange hair, and expect to try a few seeds. white hair, silver hair and grey hair look nearly the same.
