Why it works

  • A double exposure needs three things named: the silhouette (“profile silhouette of a man … facing left”), what fills it (forest and lake) and the background (“clean white”). All three landed on every seed.
  • “Birds flying out from the top of his head” is the detail that makes it a picture rather than a texture, and Krea drew the flock each time.
  • “Monochrome with a subtle teal tint” keeps the forest and the face in one color, which is what makes the blend read as one image.

Make it yours

  • Fill the silhouette with a city skyline at night, or with ocean waves.
  • Swap the man for a woman with long hair; the hair edge gives the forest more room.
