Why it works
- Our first version said “studio lighting with a large softbox above and a thin rim light behind the bottle”, and Krea drew the softbox into all four frames. This version describes what the light does instead (“soft, diffused light falls from above”), and the equipment is gone.
- “Its reflection mirrored perfectly below” and “soft caustic light patterns ripple across a pale pink stone backdrop” are the two effects that make water read as water.
- “A thin bright edge of light outlines the bottle’s glass” separates the bottle from the backdrop without a visible lamp.
Make it yours
- The lesson works for any product shot: name the light, not the lights. Equipment you name can end up in the frame.
- Swap the perfume for a watch, a lipstick or a bottle of whiskey, and change the petals to match.
- Change the pale pink stone to black slate for a darker, moodier ad.
