Why it works

  • looking up plus aurora puts her face in profile under the light, and the green ribbons fill the top of the frame on every seed.
  • visible breath is the small detail that makes it cold. All four seeds drew the puff of breath.
  • red scarf is the only warm color in a blue-and-white picture, so the eye goes straight to her.

Make it yours

  • Swap aurora for shooting star or full moon.
  • Change white winter coat to black coat and long white hair to long red hair for stronger contrast.
  • Add holding cup, steam for a cozy version.
