Why it works

  • from below puts the camera at the crowd’s eye level, looking up at the stage, which is what makes it feel like a concert rather than a portrait.
  • stage lights, spotlight and smoke give the lighting rig and haze; the model added the truss and the crowd’s silhouettes itself.
  • holding microphone stand plus singing, open mouth sets the action. On seed 44 the model also handed her a guitar.

Make it yours

  • Swap rock singer for guitarist, holding electric guitar.
  • Change the stage lights’ color by adding red lighting or blue lighting.
  • Use from side instead of from below for a side-stage view.
